Corporations around the world are scrambling to adapt their information handling practices for compliance with the GDPR. The GDPR joins HIPAA, PIPEDA and other national privacy laws in the emergence of a global privacy framework.

The GDPR is setting the new standard for global privacy, mandating privacy by design, privacy by default, and privacy impact assessment. The regulation also establishes new rights for individuals such as the right to erasure (i.e. right to be forgotten) and the right to rectification and objection to profiling.
