Brendan Seaton Brendan Seaton is one of North America’s leading experts on eHealth risk management, and the privacy and security of health information. For the past 25 years, he has been a leader in the field of health informatics. During this time, Brendan has specialized in the privacy and security of health information. He has extensive experience developing and implementing privacy programs for public and private sector organizations. He has held executive-level positions in the public and private sectors, including Veterans Affairs Canada, Ontario Blue Cross and Smart Systems for Health Agency (SSHA). He is active in standards development and has acted as Canada’s expert representative to the international ISO committee dealing with health privacy and security. Since 2000, he has trained more than 700 privacy officers and specialistsin the health and government sectors. Currently, he is President of ITACH Health, the Health Care Division of the Information Technology Association of Canada. He is also the owner of Brendan Seaton Productions which offers privacy, security and risk management consulting services, as well as workshops and seminars in eHealth risk management, and privacy and security of health information. Prior to this, Brendan was the Chief Privacy and Security Officer at SSHA, and was responsible for ensuring the protection of personal health information in the SSHA infrastructure. Prior to joining SSHA, Brendan was president of PRIVA-C, a consulting and educational services company where his customers included the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Health Canada, the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the New Brunswick Department of Health and Wellness, the PEI Department of Health and Community Services, and the Nova Scotia Department of Health. |
