Instructor: Michael Martineau - eHealth Industry Analyst

As other industries have already discovered, actively engaging the individuals to whom services are delivered not only reduces costs but also drives better outcomes.  The potential for similarly engaging patients as active participants in their care is significant.  Dr. Farzad Mostashari, former National Coordinator for Health Information Technology in the U.S., calls patient engagement “the blockbuster drug of the century.”

This series will examine why patient engagement has the potential to be so transformative and explore the confluence of sociological, demographic, and technological factors that are driving patient engagement as a major digital health trend.  Participants will learn how digital health technologies can be used to extend the relationship between patients and care provider beyond the physical encounter and to help individuals take a more active role in looking after their own health and wellness.
