In this presentation, we first introduce the problems that arise due to resistance to change in a healthcare organization. Then a distinction is drawn between organizational and individual change. Some relevant change management models are introduced, including where these are likely to be useful in countering individual and organizational resistance to change. The benefits of change management approaches that can be used in parallel with project management as a transition occurs from the “as-is” situation to the “to-be” organization are presented in detail, followed by a brief discussion of how to organize a change management team and make it work effectively as the organizational transition takes place.
