Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an amazing technology that allows us to see slices through the body. Since its inception in the early 1970's, MRI has grown into one of the most important diagnostic tools in medicine. Research has advanced the field of MRI to a point that would seem like science-fiction 20 years ago:

  • watching the heart beat,
  • following fiber tracks in the brain,
  • even observing what part of the brain is active!
Jeff Orchard will show you some of these spectacular images and animations, and give a very brief explanation of how they are acquired, and how they are used in a clinical setting.
