Description	This is the report of the Canadian, CIHR-funded project to define HI competencies. It uses a methodology that identifies the roles of Informaticians, determines their major activities and then describes the skills, knowledge and experience required to perform competently. It addresses the competencies of Applied Health Informaticians, those involved in research and teaching (Research and Development Informaticians), and also the required informatics competencies of today's physicians.
